Sree Mullapudi Venkataraya Memorial Polytechnicat Tanuku, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh was established bySree Mullapudi Venkatarayudu Memorial Educational Trust withKalaprapoorna Dr.Sree Mullapudi Harischandra Prasad garu as Chairman and Managing Trustee to provide Technical Education at the door step to rural population. It is one of the Oldest and Best polytechnics in Inida. It is 110 km from Vijayawada and 45 km from Rajahmundry. It is connected both by Rail and Road. The Institution started functioning from the academic year 1958-1959 with Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Diploma Courses under Aided Scheme.
Diploma in Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering was started in this Polytechnic with an annual intake of 60 students from the academic year 1996-1997 as per the approval accorded by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and State Government under Un-Aided Scheme (Self-Finance Scheme).During the academic year 2009-2010, 2nd Shift was introduced in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics and Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engg. Courses with an annual intake of 60 each under Self-Finance scheme.
Diploma in Electronics and Communications in 1 shift was started from the academic year 2010-2011 with an annual intake of 60 under Self-Finance scheme.The Institution laboratories are fully equipped with state of the art instruments and equipment catering to the academic work load.A boys hostel accommodating 325 boys is attached to the polytechnic which is managed by Warden (ex-officio – Principal) with Deputy Warden ( a member of Teaching Staff) and a committee of students (Hostel students).
The students of this Polytechnic are well absorbed by many Industrial giants like M/s L&T, I.T.C Ltd., NFCL, NCC, Andhra Sugars Ltd., Andhra Petrochemicals Ltd., ITC, Bhadrachalam (Paper Boards Division), Divis Lab, Dr.Reddys Lab, TVS Lucents Ltd., IVRCL.Sneider Electric Co.,etc., through Campus Interviews.#
